SCRIMSHAW - TELLING STORIES WITH ARTEFACTS
ALASKA EXHIBITION AT THE ANCHORAGE MUSEUM

This interactive Installation allows visitors to connect with the art of pipe carving by encouraging them to use the characters and settings found on the pipes to create their own stories. The pipe carvings tell stories and describe scenes.

On the table, visitors select from a bank of 25 tiles with an image on it that is taken from the pipe and bow drill artifacts featured in the showcase. The 25 images are organized in 5 themes that corresponds to a slider. Visitors assemble a visual story by aligning the device with the tile of their choice and the images appears projected on the wall in front of them, accompanied by gentle motion graphics that bring the story to life.
